Gameguard Problems - Ultimate connection guide Empty
PostSubject: Gameguard Problems - Ultimate connection guide   Gameguard Problems - Ultimate connection guide Icon_minitimeMon May 25, 2009 8:21 pm

Occasionally people have difficulties connecting to the server. Some of these problems are self-created, most of them are gameguard created, and some of them are genuine server problems. To help
people to overcome connection problems I have put together the following guide to help.

1. As the server is a Gracia server, you will need the Gracia Client. This can be obtained from a number of sources, just google 'Gracia Client' or go to this link: http://www.gamershell.com/download_35212.shtml

2. Once you have downloaded the client and installed it, you should navigate to C:\Program Files\LineageII and double click LineageII.exe. Then select the option to update files. Once the files have been updated, close the application.

3. Within LineageII.exe there is a IP director which will direct all Lineage generated traffic to the retail server and the gameguard folder. We obviously dont want it to go there and so need a way of sending the traffic to our private server. This is done by amending our hosts file.

4. If you have Vista -

Use windows explorer to get to c:\windows
Right click on notepad.exe and select "run as administrator"
Then do file/open and navigate to Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ folder. Proceed to step 5

If you have WinXP

Open explorer and navigate to Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ folder. Within this folder you will find a file called hosts.

5. Using notepad open the hosts file.

Change and save it to the following:-

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
80.3.188.201 l2testauthd.lineage2.com
80.3.188.201 l2authd.lineage2.com
80.3.188.201 nprotect.lineage2.com
80.3.188.201 nprotect.ncsoft.co.kr
80.3.188.201 update.nprotect.net
80.3.188.201 update.nprotect.co.kr

Make sure when you save the file it is saved as hosts and not hosts.exe.

6. Now using explorer navigate to Program Files\Lineageii\System folder and delete the gameguard folder.

7. Now save the file. Make sure you save it as hosts and not hosts.txt. Navigate to Program Files\LineageII\System and delete the gameguard folder. Whilst still in the Program Files\LineageII\System folder, lauch the game by double clicking on L2.exe.
You should now be able to access L2WorldUK.

I hope this is of some assistance to people

Regards
Zak
